There were a few games that really stood out to me personally and that were most of all Animal Crossing New Horizons, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, Monster Hunter Rise, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and the Splatoon franchise because they gave me pleasant memories with other people, I have kind of a hard time really connecting with people because I am rather avoidant but these games really did the right thing. I still enjoy those games and I am still hoping for new entries in certain long dormant series. I became a old game enjoyed and replay a lot of old games lately. It might just be a thing with age and losing the sense of wonder for a bit. I never really felt an attachment to Switch games in the way I had an attachment to earlier Nintendo generations like N64, Gba and Gamecube I am still figuring out why that is.

Aside from the hardware, the software did it even better.įor me personally. The Switch was an amazing piece of hardware, I will remember it fondly as one of Nintendo's all-time highs. But the last few years truly have been special for me.

And I’m looking forward to where Nintendo goes next. The Switch rekindled my love for Nintendo and games again. And I’ve been mostly lurking there and here now ever since. I discovered ResetEra trough the legendary January 2018 direct spectacle. I rediscovered my love for RPGs trough Octopath Traveler. I especially fell in love with the Xenoblade franchise and have been there Day 1 ever since. I bought Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 at EB Games in Cairns. I went abroad from Germany to Australia for a year just 2-3 weeks after the Switch released and played the whole 20 something hour flight. I could take it with me on my way to University, on my 3 hour ride to my parents or just on the balcony. I fell in love with the game instantly and the concept of a hybrid suited me so so well. I had always been a massive Zelda fan (Links Awakening DX was the first game I ever got myself) and when BotW was announced me and this roommate decided to get Switches. I still somewhat kept up to date here and there and played Skyward Sword together with my then roommate on his Wii. Between starting to go out, friends, first relationships and moving out I just lost touch with that particular hobby. I loved it but soon after dropped console gaming as I entered my teen and early 20s.

The last Nintendo console I owned was the GameCube.

It has its flaws, the fact that i've had to replace the joycon sticks thrice before having enough and getting Gulikit's hall effect sticks is frustrating, the itty bitty tabletop stand looks so fragile i got an actual stand i've been using left and right, and i hate how the availability of NSO retro controllers is so freaking low.īut this is the most i've enjoyed a Nintendo console since the N64.

Plus, it feels like Nintendo is a their peak, creatively outstanding and rock solid games, even some franchises that are at their lowest point tech wise - cof cof Pokémon - are still doing some serious efforts to evolve.Įven now when Switch is nearing its twilight, we're seeing full fledged remakes and impressive remasters. Sure, i enjoyed how the menus were part of the experience in the Wii/DS era, but as a fan of certain genres that are strangely and consistently lacking on Nintendo consoles, i'm well fed this gen. First Nintendo console that doesn't seem to be lacking in any relevant area.
